On The FADER, they described the sound of this song as what they imagined living in the city would feel like and I understand that feeling immensely. It reminds me of late-era Everything But the Girl. You know, those soft, whispery vocals (from Holly Partridge) over house beats to create something lovely, pretty, and non-offensive. It’s the sort of music I’d expect to hear in a trendy hotel or restaurant. It’s enough to please the ears, but not enough to distract from whatever else you’re doing. That might not sound like high praise, but trust that it is. I really, really love it.
With their cast of Lolitas with murderous gazes, Natalie Shau’s digital artworks are more tart than they are sweet. The pieces for her upcoming show, “Hide and Seek” at Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome, are all about the details — the billowing couture fabrics that envelope her heroines and the quietly enchanted elements of their enlivened environments.
